Meaning
The clavicle, or collarbone, is the long bone that runs roughly horizontally from the top of the breastbone to the tip of the shoulder. OpenStax Anatomy and Physiology notes that you can feel its entire length with your fingers, which makes it one of the easiest landmarks to find on a reference photo or a live model. It matters because it fixes the width and slope of the shoulders and the position of the neck pit.
