Can I draw people without asking?

The answer

Sketching people in public for private study is widely accepted, but privacy and publishing rules differ by country, so check local rules. Rules on publishing images of people also vary. As a matter of courtesy, ask first when you are drawing a particular person, stop if someone objects, and agree with a model in advance how the work may be used. Do not photograph or share images of private individuals without their consent. This is general information, not legal advice.
