What materials do I need for gesture drawing?
The answer
You need only inexpensive paper and a soft drawing tool, such as charcoal, a soft pencil, a thick marker or a brush pen. Large sheets of newsprint or printer paper encourage movement from the shoulder and remove the pressure to produce something precious. Choose a medium that discourages tight control, because the goal is speed and flow, not precision. You do not need to erase; correct a wrong line by drawing the improved line over it more firmly, and move on to the next pose.
