Pelvis

Meaning

The pelvis is the bony structure at the base of the spine that connects the torso to the legs. For drawing, think of it as a tilted box or basin, wider than most beginners draw it, with landmarks you can often see or feel, such as the iliac crest at the waist. It matters because its tilt against the ribcage drives balance: in a weight-bearing pose the pelvis commonly drops on the unsupported side. Draw it as its own mass, separate from the ribcage.
